Located in the west and northwest of Beijing, Haidian District is adjacent to Xicheng District and Chaoyang District in the east, Fengtai District in the south, Shijingshan District and Mentougou District in the west, and Changping District in the north. It covers an area of 430.77 square kilometers, accounting for about 2.6% of the total area of Beijing.
Featuring a temperate humid monsoon climate, Haidian District has cold, dry winters with prevailing northwest wind, and rainy summers with high temperature and prevailing southeast wind. The annual average temperature is 12.5℃. January has an average temperature of -4.4℃ and a record low of -21.7℃, while July has an average temperature of 25.8℃ and a record high of 41.6℃.
